Migraines or headaches, often considered a mild disease by society. Though, migraine also may be a sign that there is a serious illness in the body. Migraine is a throbbing headache that often occurs only on one side of the head only. However, symptoms can vary in each person, and sometimes not the same from one attack to the next attack. Usually, if people are frequently attacked by migraine, he would not be realized if the symptoms worsen.

Usually, if people are frequently attacked by migraine, he would not be realized if the symptoms worsen. Whereas, changes in the pattern or a headache that feels different could be a sign of a more serious medical condition.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, it could be a sign that a migraine is already a serious illness, then you should immediately contact your doctor.
1. A headache that comes on suddenly, and is different from usual migraine, even attack sometimes feels like the worst migraine ever felt.
2. Migraine and headache accompanied by fever, stiff neck, rash on the skin, confusion, double vision, numbness in parts of the body or difficulty speaking.
3. Experience of migraine, associated with seizures.
4. The migraine that occurs after experiencing a sore throat or other respiratory diseases. In winter, flu and sore throats are common, and the recurrence of migraine will be more frequent. Warning signs of a serious illness usually when the sore throat was gone, but the fever and stiff neck or headache are getting worse
5. The migraine that comes after a head injury, especially if it continues to deteriorate and intensity of migraine more often.
7. Unfamiliar migraine after the age of 50 years.
8. Migraine pain that requires medication every day.

Causes of migraine are obtained from the literature include:
1. Hormonal disturbances in the body, for example: before menstruation and during menstruation until the end, is pregnant, period’s menopause or use of contraceptives containing the hormone.
2. Changes in activities such as not getting enough sleep or prolonged sleep, always forget or late meal or a very tired body.
3. Genetically, migraines can also be passed to other family members, there are people who are very sensitive to light and sound or sensitive to weather can cause migraines, flu or respiratory allergies. Often very cold wind or cold air can cause migraine.
4. Foods that contain MSG as a food flavoring, food that contains caffeine and alcohol.
5. The environment: cigarette smoke, garbage, smoke car / motorcycle and others as well as a very pungent odor that can trigger migraines in certain people.

To prevent the occurrence of migraine then do the following:
- Avoid stress
- Getting enough sleep
- Avoid or reduce consumption of foods or beverages causes of migraine such as caffeine, alcohol, MSG, tyramin and others.
- Use scarves, head coverings or jackets if you are in cold places.
- Simply drink

But if you have a migraine then does the following:
- Consult with your doctor to get the right treatment
- Identify the factors that cause your migraines, so that the doctor knows your migraine patterns.
