Fracture means breakage in the bone. Fracture is quite painful shocking and the person cannot move the injured part.

Fractures are of two types

What is fracture? And what treatment is necessary.
Fractures are of two types:-
1. Simple fracture- when the skin is intact and only bone is broken.
2. Open or compound fracture- when in addition to breakage in bone, there is an open wound leading up to the fracture site.

General treatment

The injured person should be given proper attention and his body and particularly the injured part should be properly supported through careful handling so as to prevent any further injury and the patient should be made comfortable and warm.

A bit of bone is seen through the skin, it should not be pushed back.

The first aid should not try to set the bone; but should only support the injured part. For instance, a long split can be used to support the whole leg on the outside from little above the hip bone to a little below the ankle in case of fracture of the thigh bone. A bit of bone is seen through the skin, it should not be pushed back. The injured person must immediately be shifted to hospital for proper treatment.
