The dichotomy of world and Self have captured and intrigued human spirit of inquiry for millennia. What is the source and causation of this perceived dichotomy?

The ledge of knowing

I awoke one day, and found myself on the Ledge of the great divide,

Easy access to pain and pleasure on one side,
Deep mystery, yet promise of utopia on the other,

Shimmer, spangle, and coruscation on one side,
An eternal, inextinguishable light on the other,

Bounded by a deep chasm on one side,
Bounded by an unfathomable abyss on the other,

Chaos of illusory space and time on one side,
Truth and timelessness on the other,

"Be brave and take the plunge", said a voiceless voice,

I dove without awareness, and landed in the world,
I dove with awareness, and landed in the Self.
