The phone call from the Doctor's Office

I am chronicling the events that lead up to my bariatric surgery.

Introduction

Liver condition - Part 2

I have decided to chronicle the happenings that lead up to my bariatric (weight reduction) decision. Most people do not make the decision to have that kind of surgery lightly. I thought long and hard before I considered having the surgery. This article continues my feelings about my state of health two years ago before I even thought of bariatric surgery.

The telephone call

Yesterday I wrote about falling apart. I listed all my appointments and said that I am waiting for another test for my liver but they didn’t call me for the test yet.

Well when I checked my phone there was a message from the liver doctor’s office. Now all I knew at that point was that he had an office in the hospital.

Today before I got up there was another message saying they needed me to come in for a follow up and to call today maybe they could fit me in today; that in and of itself, is scary to me. If it is not that serious they don’t try to fit you in you just wait your turn.

Wondering what is wrong with my liver

I called the number they gave and got very nervous it is a HIV/AIDS and hepatitis clinic. Imagine the shock for me. Well I know that hepatitis was one concern but I had a test for that before I saw this doctor and I didn’t have hepatitis. I can’t imagine having HIV/AIDS. My son reassured me that I couldn’t possibly have aids. I have never been promiscuous and he said if I had aids I would be skinny or close to it and not as heavy as I am.

Nevertheless, thinking of going to such an appointment at an aids clinic scares me. I will be worried until I finally get to see the doctor and find out what is going on. I thought I only had fatty liver but I guess that it is much worse than that.

I need a lot of encouragement from you guys now and prayers because of course my mind is thinking the worst.

Update: I had bariatric surgery on July 24, 2015.
