Minimize your chances of having a stroke by doing the following:

Tips To Prevent A Stroke From Happening

Monitor your blood pressure on a regular basis. The most important risk-reducing factor is keeping your blood pressure below 130/ 80.

If you smoke, stop immediately! After 5 years, your stroke risk will be the same as if you had never smoked.

Don’t have more than 5 drinks of alcohol a day. Your stroke risk will increase by 69 %.

Avoid taking recreational drugs such as methamphetamine and cocaine. They can cause arteries to constrict suddenly, with potentially fatal consequences!

Exercise regularly, at least 3-4 times a week.

Avoid blows or injuries to your head and neck.

Get your cholesterol levels regularly checked by your doctor.

Try to minimize your stress levels by practicing yoga, meditating or simply by taking frequents walks in the park.

Avoid too much salt in your food.

Those you suffer a stroke at the age of 45 or above have a 30 to 40 percent chance of having one within five years. If you’re under 45, that risk is much smaller.
