Lots of teenage hairstyles are on trend from short crops, long layers and Emo cuts. Consider factors such as your face shape before choosing your new look.

Top Teen Hairstyles

Many ideas for new teenage hairstyles can be found in magazines, on celebrities and in music videos. Teens often experiment with several hairstyles before finding the one that suits them. The teenage years are the time to take more risks with colors, cuts and styles. Although a new society-embraced style may appear each season, ensure your haircut reflects your individuality rather than blind obedience to style.

Faux Bob

If your hair is long and you are considering cutting it shorter or simply want the appearance of shorter hair for an evening, then a faux bob is the way to go. This style gives the illusion of a mid-length bob, even though the hair is actually, in fact, longer and tucked under. This look works especially well with girls with a layered cut, and has been seen on teen celebrities such as Demi Lovato. To achieve the look yourself, tie half of the hair up from ear to ear. Separate the remaining hair into 2-inch sections, and tuck under and bobby pin them to the scalp. Remove the elastic from the top section of hair and let the shorter layers hang loose over the clipped-up hair.

Long Layers

A long layered style is a flattering and versatile look for teenage girls. Although a blunt long cut may appear boring or plain, layers and textures give interest and definition to your hair. This look can be blow-dried in a multitude of ways, including straight, wavy, tousled and sleek. Adding a blunt, choppy fringe or a side-sweeping fringe can also update the hair and transform your style. Teens who opt for a layered cut also have the option to experiment with a multitude of updo styles.

Emo Hairstyles

Emo hairstyles have becoming increasingly fashionable for teenage girls. The style is very choppy, bold and uneven. Emo hairstyles can be seen on short and long hair, and feature contrasting very short and long layers. The look should express individuality and each cut should complement your own facial features. Emo styles often have lots of bold colouring incorporated into the style such as the addition of random chunky sections of bright or dark colour.
