Six Unhealthy Ways to Lose Weight

Have excess weight often make us less confident. This can be overcome by implementing a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Ironically, to date there are people who still do unhealthy ways to lose their weight. Below are some of the popular, and dangerous ways to lose weight, and see what exactly is wrong with this way:

1. Smoking

Although it looks a little crazy and have a tremendous influence, experts say that some people will usually take tobacco products to lose weight. Many people do not feel hungry and loss of appetite loss when they smoke. However, tobacco will actually trigger a bigger problem than just a weight problem. Smoking will make you at risk of developing diseases like lung cancer, heart disease and stroke.

2. Skipping meals, hunger, or fasting

When you are trying to lose weight, the first thing that comes to mind is to eat a little, then the weight will come down. Or maybe you will think to skip meals, especially at breakfast.

This method is wrong! Although this way is quite successful to cut weight, but you also lose muscle and fluid, which can lead to bigger health problems.

3. Use of drugs, herbs, or supplements

This method may looks easy to lose weight. But experts say that diet pills are mostly just contain caffeine and diuretics can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. These drugs work by reducing appetite and make you not feel hungry, thus reducing the amount of food intake. As a result, the body will experience a shortage of energy.

4. Stimulants to vomit, laxatives

In some people who do a very strict diet, use of stimulants to vomit may be a primary choice. But you should be aware of the threat behind the use of the drug. Experts say that the stomach contents containing acid levels are very high, so if someone is vomiting too often, can cause erosion in the lining of the esophagus, mouth, teeth and gums, which triggers the development of cancer.

Not only that, the intensity of vomiting that too often lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. This method is very dangerous, said experts.

5. Colon Cleansing

Colon cleansing is a way to cleanse the colon by using water that has been cleared by filtration (filtering), irradiation with ultra violet light, and heated to temperatures correspond to the human body. But this will not actually remove the fat but only water and feces. Experts say that every human body actually has its own detoxification mechanisms that are more efficient. This method will only disrupt the body's systems.

6. Extreme Exercise


Excessive sport activities is no different than other diets (such as skipping meals or fasting). This method is not effective to eliminate the weight you want. Punish yourself by exercising your body will only lead to extreme fatigue, increased risk of injury, electrolyte imbalance, and affect you psychologically.
