Announcing my upcoming back surgery and leave of absence. I broke my back some time ago and finally am getting the damage repaired.

Upcoming Back Surgery

I fell off of a neighbor's porch a few years ago and fell on her flower bed breaking my back. As a result of that injury I have a herniated disc in number one lumbar vertebra resulting in narrowing of the space through which the nerve root passes. This in turn causes numbness and pain in certain parts of my body that cannot be managed by any means other than surgery. I have to have a similar surgery done on my neck due to a car wreck. Basically they will remove part of the vertebra and replace it with artificial materials.

I have waited for three years for the surgery. I have unexplained fainting spells, which were finally diagnosed as being caused by diabetes. Once that was out of the way I was cleared for surgery. It is scheduled for June 24, 2013 at Camden Clark Memorial Medical Center in Parkersburg WV.

Bad luck, indeed! But if you've to undergo surgery, focus on nothing else but your operation, finding out of pros and cons from doctors and nobody else. Ask them as many questions as you've to ask them so as to be sure that operating is the only option. After the operation, do take your time to recover well. I fractured my right shoulder and I repeated to myself 'this is your main oriority; all the rest can wait' Health is our wealth, I'd say.

Thank you again Delicia. I just finished all of my pre-op testing today so everything is go. I'm getting both good and bad feedback about the doctor but I expect that. Thank you for checking back.
