Vegetable Juice: An Easy Way to Add Kale Into Your Diet

Looking for a way to add super greens into your diet? Need the nutrition, but want it to taste good too? Check out some easy ways to add the super food Kale into your diet and have it taste good at the same time!

The Basics

There came a time when my family needed to alter the way we eat. Although we ate healthy, we were missing certain nutrients in our diet. We needed to introduce some super foods into our diet. Kale was one of those super foods.

Kale is not always the most appetizing vegetable. However, when mixed into certain types of smoothies and juices, it can be very appetizing and will boost your energy as well as your nutrition level.

To make these drinks you will need a juicer, blender, and basic kitchen equipment. If you do not have a juicer, that’s ok. You can use the blender by making slight adjustments in the way you make the drink. Blend things in smaller increments and add water as needed. For these recipes, there are two differences between a drink made with a juicer and one made with the blender. First, the thickness and refinement of the vegetables will vary. Second, you will have additional fiber in a blended drink. If you have a digestive issue, this may cause irritation.

Using fresh produce always results in the best tasting and most nutritious drinks. However, frozen produce can be introduced if certain produce is not available to you. Make sure to thoroughly thaw the produce and use a blender to process it.

Kale Juice #1

  • 4 Stalks of Kale
  • 3 Kiwis
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ Pineapple

Juice all vegetables and fruits. Add cinnamon and mix. Refrigerate.

If substituting frozen pineapple chunks, use 2 cups and do not juice. Instead, put them in blender.


If using a blender instead of a juicer, peel kiwis and apples.

Kale Juice #2

  • 6 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 Bunch Broccoli
  • 1 Bunch Green Seedless Grapes
  • 4 Stalks of Kale
  • 3 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Allspice

Put apples, kale and broccoli through juicer. Blend the juice and rest of ingredients.

If using a blender instead of a juicer, make sure to peel the apples.

Kale Juice #3

  • 4 Stalks of Kale
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 6 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Ginger

Put kale, cucumber and apples through the juicer. Mix the ginger into the juice.

If using a blender, peel the cucumber and apples first.

Trying Your Own Combinations

When making these juices, you can alter the amounts of any of the ingredients in order to make it to your liking. Should you decide to venture out on your own, here is a list of ingredients that go well with kale.

I enjoy the variety of ways that you can use kale. Recently I have started using it in my smoothies. Great ideas here.

Thank you! I started using it when we moved to MS (husband is in military so we move often). I had my first child there and was making her food and such. It is a great veggie to get nutrients from.
