A urologist is a doctor that cures the diseases of bladder, urethra and ureters, outer sex organs and prostate. The warning signs to watch out for, which may mean a visit to a specialist is required, are; feelings of burning and pain during urination, frequent urges to urinate, incontinence, blood in the urine, colic feelings in the loin area or any other discomforting feelings in that area. Urology is a medicine branch that has to deal with several specializations like andrology, gynecology, pediatrics. It is subdivided into male, female, children’s and geriatric (that deals with elderly people’s health) Urology.

Male urology (andrology) specializes in such diseases as male infertility, prostate inflammations (prostatitis), bladder, ureter and urethral inflammations, urolithiasis and sexually transmitted infections.

Female urology (urogynecology) has to deal with diagnostic and treatment of inner and outer sex organs inflammations, bladder, kidneys, ureter, and urethral inflammations, urolithiasis, and sexually transmitted infections.
Children’s Urology specializes in the pathologies and diseases of children’s urogenital system.

What will you face while visiting a urologist? The doctor will ask you about your feelings and complaints, study the information about your health from your diseases history, will examine your sex organs visually. The diagnostic of urogenital diseases is performed through the analyses or other diagnostic procedures that doctor appoints according to the information received during the first visit.

If the patient is a male, the doctor will examine his sex organs visually and will check the state of the prostate with the help of the finger. If the patient is a female, she will need to be examined on a gynecological chair in clinic. The examination of children’s sex organs is performed once a year for the purpose of prophylaxis of disease appearance and pathologies diagnostics and can be done by the urologist only in presence of their parents.
