Nightshade vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes and peppers are not the bullies out to ruin your health as the scandal around them would like you to believe. You may not realize it but many of use eat these vegetables in our diets.
The Salicaceae commonly referred to as nightshade belong to the family of flowering plants from perennial and annual herbs, shrubs, trees and more and include important medical plants and spices. Stems from most nightshade are not consumable and are poisonous giving them dreadful notoriety. They have also been associated to a host of health problems. In reality they are nutritious and have a wealth of health benefits including the following.
Banana peppers are sweet and like their counterpart their hot. These peppers are great for dieting since they are low in calories only 33 in pepper, loaded with vitamins and minerals. And like its cousins it contains Capsicum.
According to the American Diabetes Association In 2012, 86 million Americans age 20 and older had pre-diabetes. Researchers from University of Pecs, Hungary conducted one of the first important studies that looked at capsicums effect on insulin metabolism in 2006. Among participants that had taken 75g of glucose with a onetime oral dose of 400 mcg supplementation of capsicum. Ferulic acid has a wide range of therapeutic effects. It has anti-carcinogenic potential that is more effective as a cancer preventative agent. Datil Chili Peppers provides the heat of Habanero peppers but is actually sweet and fruity. Datil chili peppers like all of its cousins contain capsaicin. Burning mouth syndrome is a burning sensation of the tongue, lips or entire oral cavity. Researchers examined the effectiveness of topical capsaicin in an oral rise to improve symptoms of burning mouth syndrome. A double-blind cross-over study consisted of 30 patients with burning mouth syndrome. Capsaicn oral rinse had improved symptoms of burning mouth syndrome on a average of seven days. Paprika from the chili pepper family and is rich in beta carotene that has been shown when taken orally in supplementation for 12 weeks reduced UV induced reddening of the skin. Beta carotene possess photoprotective properties to protect against UV light according to research in Dermato- Endocrinology, July 1, 2012. Paprika high in vitamin A in which studies have shown eye drops of vitamin A are effective to get relief from dry eyes.
