The top three drugs you should always avoid.

NIMESULIDE: A pain killer and fever lowering medicine is not allowed to be sold in the west. The drug has also been banned in Singapore, Bangladesh and Nigeria for causing serious side effects both in children and adults. The European Medicine Agency has banned the use of Nimesulide in children below 12 years in all its 25 members countries. The drug is known to cause severe liver damage and a fatal disorder called Reye’s Syndrome in children.

LETROZOLE: An anti-cancer drug meant for use in post-menopausal patients for breast cancer is aggressively being promoted by drug manufactures in India for treatment of female infertility. Both the Canadian drug regulator and the innovator company Novartis, have warned gynaecologists not to misuse it for female infertility. Research on 150 pregnancies has shown that babies born to mothers who had consumed Letrozole have suffered from bone malformations, cardiac stenosis and cancers.

DEANXIT: An anti-depressant combination of two drugs, flupenthixol and melitracen, is not permitted for use in Denmark, its country of origin but is exported to developing countries such as India, Bangladesh etc. Its sale is prohibited in countries including the US, Britain, Canada, Australia and Japan. One of the ingredients, melitracen, neither appears in any standard text book of Pharmacology nor is listed in any official Pharmacopoeia. Therefore, the quality of the combination product cannot be independently verified by state drug-testing laboratories. It is aggressively being promoted for a wide range of known and unknown disorders including ‘masked’ depression. ‘Psychosomatic affections’, menopausal depression and dysphoria in alcoholics without clearance from Drugs controller in some countries.

are there any reference citing any unusual side effects of deanxit that are any different than those of other tricyclics or thioxanthene neuroleptics? any specific study used to base the decision for banning this drug combination? i would be most thankful for any formal literature about this issues
