Honey, a present from our friends the bees, is rich in natural nutrients and has been be used in a wealth of ways for thousands of years to keep you healthy and happy. Think Cleopatra with her milk and honey baths!

Honey can be used in so many ways with food, either as an ingredient or as an extra treat to spice up a snack so get out your recipe books for inspiration.
• Eating just a spoonful of honey every day, replacing sugar in teas and coffees, or even just a slice of toast with honey will be advantageous in boosting your immune system and your body will thank you for it.
• Savoury: honey can be added to almost any dish either by marinating or used in a sauce, salads or as a dip.
• Sweet: use honey in a variety of puddings, cakes and pastries.

Honey is particularly excellent for dry and sensitive skin as it re-hydrates and purifies the skin but is beneficial for all skin types.
• I don’t often put it all over my body before a shower, although you can, but use it instead as a face pack. After washing off, it leaves your skin feeling soft and looking glowing. Alternatively, put a spoonful in the bath next time.
• Use is as a conditioner for your hair; you can mix a spoonful with olive oil but you do have to wash it out thoroughly after for a silky look. Leave the conditioner infusion on for half an hour for maximum effect.
• You can also mix it with lemon juice and water when you feel your hair needs that extra shiny boost.

As a natural antiseptic, honey is extraordinary valuable for having around the home to help prevent infections and cure ailments.
• Should you have a cut or blemish, put a small bit of honey on the area and cover. Your skin should heal quickly, if not continue until all bacteria has been killed.
• If you burn yourself, smear honey over the area and wait to see the magical effects as it speeds up the process to heal your skin and also limits the mark of a scar left after.
• Got s sore throat or cough? Add a spoonful of honey to hot water and drink regularly. You can also add fresh lemon and a pinch of black pepper for maximum effect.
Start using honey in your diet and see reap the benefits. For best results, use raw, organic honey and if possible use a local honey to your area as this can prevent any allegies.
