What is Reiki?

Reiki is growing at a fast pace. Many people still do not have an understanding of what Reiki is and how is work. Here is a basic explanation of Reiki.

What Reiki is!

Reiki is a non-intrusive, healing method that draws on "Universal Life Force Energy" to promote comfort, health and balance of mind, body, and spirit. Reiki is used by thousands of people for self-treatment and personal growth. Reiki has also been successfully integrated into numerous hospitals, clinics, hospice programs, message practices. Reiki has a variety of holistic therapeutic environments where its gentle but powerful application complements both traditional and non- tradition forms of healing.

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.

There are thousands of different types of Reiki and energy healing. The popularity of Reiki and Energy Healing has grown over the past one hundred years. Holistic healers use the basic formula, but create their own forms of this amazing energy work.

There are two basic forms of Reiki energy that can be sent or received an attunement and a treatment. A Reiki attunement is when you are attuned to the Reiki energies. With practice over time, you will be able to send these energies yourself. I say with practice because some people need to practice sending the energies while other people can do it naturally. A Reiki treatment is just that a treatment that is giving for some healing purpose.

Sending or Receiving Reiki Energies

There are four ways one can send or receive Reiki energies

Hands-on Reiki is done in person. Hands-on Reiki treatment is mostly used by the massage therapist, who have expanded their practices. The Reiki energies are incorporated into the massage. In other words, the massage therapist sends the Reiki energies to their clients through their hands as they are giving the massage.

Non-Touch Reiki, this is none by moving the hand over the body, but not touching the body. The non-touch method is preferred by many because it is least intrusive. The non-touch method is also best when your client has sensory issues and does not like to be touched.

Distant Reiki and Chi-ball distant Reiki are basically the same things. Distant Reiki is when the Reiki energy is sent to a client from a distance. Distant Reiki energy can be sent just by itself, through meditation, or through Chi-Balls. Chi-Balls are just balls of energy that are created for a purpose and sent to a person. The person can then call in the Chi-balls whenever they wish.

Well, we had a physiotherapist who treated patients in hospital with reiki as well as conventional methods... No real scientific proof though..

Sometimes I wonder how this energy is sent around and how it all changes everything. I find it tough to drag myself out of bed in the morning. Nice article brendamarie.

"It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy."

With this I feel would also come a requirement for great responsibility.

If we guide the life force focussing it in this way into somebody else's body, we better know what we are doing, or have their permission to do this.

When I had this done to me, I felt the energy coming into me, but then I took control of this extra energy myself as my higher self, and I then focussed and directed it to the parts of me most needing healing.

I performed some elaborate spontaneous hand manoeuvring, as I did this.

The energy itself is very real, I felt.

Thanks for sharing this info brendamarie.

"If we guide the life force focussing it in this way into somebody else's body, we better know what we are doing, or have their permission to do this."

What I meant here is that we shouldn't force the energy to heal anything specific, by directing it to where, or to what, we might think that the problem is, but that we should just let the energy do the healing of itself, going to where it most needs to go to, and so healing us in its own way, in a way.

You are so right spirited, as I have studied Reiki for twenty years before I ever past it on to any one else.. I studied under many different teachers. All whom, had their own forms.
While I have heard of people gving Reiki without realizing they have done so. It's is thought that these energies always know, where to go to do the best good for the person getting the treatment.
